I have been in contact with Patrick from KDE Direct about his Trex700E conversion kit he will be bringing out shortly and am posting this on his Behalf with his Permission.

Patrick :

I'm excited to announce that we are releasing a full Electronic Conversion Kit for the T700N in the next few weeks that completely changes the critical areas of the Nitro kit to make it the optimal electronic setup. My team and I have been testing numerous pack configurations and CG locations to find the optimal performance and control setup and we found the perfect setup. The goals of the design were to find the optimal CG for 3D performance and to make it easy to install and remove the packs, all of which was accomplished with very minimal frame modifications.

I can't get too much information yet, but expect the kit to have a 4-bolt supported motor mount, a new Aluminum bottom bracket for the entire bottom section, and a new aluminum receiver mount with optimal battery location. And, with all the upgrades, weight is actually LOWER than the Nitro parts it replaces! This is one of the most exciting upgrades I've been able to design and the production has started.

Here is just a quick sneak-peak at the upgrades coming. Sorry at the poor quality, but it's the thumbnail pulled from the website.

To get the optimal CG location, the LiPos are mounted one in the frontand one in the back. With the setup, the CG is perfectly balanced right over the main mast, even more so than the current Nitro setup with 1/2 tank of fuel. There is no way to mount 2 x 6S packs in the front and still have a correct CG, the weight of the packs is just too much.

The motor is mounted below the main gear, similar to standard Align setups. We were able to prototype a 3D setup with all the mass as highas possible towards the main shaft and it actaully produced a helicopter that didn't fly well. Altough the protoype was very fast in loops, it did not hover well not tracked in fast forward flight. With the proper motor location and optimal CG, the new setup is one that provides excellent 3D performance without losing the great hovering and control of the current Nitro-style setup. The batteries are mounted separately on two different levels, as the end-to-end setups was not optimal.

I've attached images of the first production prototypes installed on aTREX 700E. The optimal CG placement was found with a high-mounted front LiPo and a lower, tray-mounted rear LiPo. Three components will make up the entire Conversion Kit, with a new custom Bottom Bracket, optimized Receiver Mount, and a four-bolt Motor Mount for high-power setups. The production is ongoing and I hope to have the entire kit ready for sale before Labor Day weekend!

I have been providing Patrick with alot of feedback and a few ideas of my own and he is great to talk to and has super communication and i cant recomend his products enough.

This sure is a great step forward for those looking at larger electric and provides a easy to install well designed tough setup for your Electric machines.

The fact the electronics nose cone is less deep in its design makes for the front battery to be able to mount higher in the airframe which is good as the origional nose cone makes the pack sit lower and basicaly to get the packs in and out with out damage you wold have needed to dremel out the lower crossmember braces on the front. Not only that not they can be done away with all together with his great new designed bottom alloy plate.

The new engine mount is also Top stuff allowing the powerfull electric motor to be mounted with more bolts so it will not rock and flex under gear loading which previously would cause the standard mounting setup to strip main gears like butter.

Well done Patrick and Team, great products as usual, Thumbs Up
